A calculator built to be checked, not just trusted
Paintura.tech isn't a form that guesses a quantity: it's an engine that documents every rule it applies, and refuses to invent one it doesn't have.
Why this calculator exists
Working out how much paint a wall or a room needs usually requires knowing things an occasional DIYer has no reason to know: a product's coverage rate, how many coats a given surface needs, how porous a fresh render really is. Paintura.tech asks the questions the other way round: you describe your project in plain language (a surface, some openings, a wall type if you know it, a paint), and the engine works out the technical parameters on its own.
Our method
Three principles shape how the calculator is built:
- The engine is deterministic. Given the same inputs, it always produces the same result, whatever language or unit system is displayed.
- No technical value is invented. When a reference value (coverage, compatibility, number of coats) isn't validated yet for a given combination, the calculator says so explicitly rather than showing an unfounded estimate.
- The calculation is transparent. The breakdown — actual surface, consumption, margin applied — stays available for every result.
Where the site stands today
The site is under active development. The calculation engine and its rule set (surface deduction, unit conversion, tin-size selection) are built and tested. The coverage and compatibility figures it uses are category averages, drawn from documentary research and reviewed by the site's publisher — not the figures for any one product. The methodology page sets out where they come from, the reference ranges published by manufacturers, and their limits.
What we don't do
No invented testimonials, no in-house "experts" without a real identity, no numbers presented as final when they're really estimates. When something is missing, the page says so.
